Module 4 of 16 completed!

Last weekend was the fourth module in my Diploma in Yoga Therapy. As always it was mentally hard work- so far in the course, we have studied neuroscience, respiration, the skeletal system, Parkinson’s, cancer, and depression, among much else. And as always it was fascinating- the effects of breathing in different ways, for example, are so important and life-changing that I think it should almost be in the school curriculum. In amongst the theory, we practise therapeutic techniques- both as subject and practitioner, so that we have a deeper understanding of how the practices work and feel, and of how to teach them.

The teachers on the course are experts in their fields, too- we have studied with Minded director Heather Mason, of course; but also Dr Melissa Wickremasinghe, Liz Oppedijk, and Dr Samantha Bottrill among others. These are incredible opportunities to learn from such knowledgeable and experienced practitioners and I feel very grateful to have this chance.

As always I’ve come away inspired to try new things (or old things with a new twist)- see if you can spot something new I’ve learned this time around when you come to classes this month!

***Call for volunteers, please!***
Once again I will be asking for ‘clients’ to work with for two client sessions between now and December- you would be doing me a massive favour! They involve me doing a physical and a breath assessment, and teaching a breath practice- if you could fancy this, please give me a shout!

There have been a few interruptions to classes recently- the module of study, a half term mini break in London that I went on with Violet, another training opportunity this past Monday, and a funeral yesterday of a family friend. I’m really sorry for this, and very grateful for your understanding. Finally we miss classes this coming weekend because I’m going to a wedding… mine… photos to follow!

What’s coming up?
I am hopeful that there won’t be further disruptions to classes until 14th-17th December, when I’ll be up in London for Module 5. There’s nothing planned, so fingers crossed and touching wood that nothing unscheduled pops up! And then it’s Christmas. I’m hoping to offer something in between Christmas and New Year, so look out for news of that.

Autumn and Samhain blessings to you, and wishing you well in the dark season! It can be long and a struggle for many, so hold the light to you and remember that this too will pass x
