Embodied Journeys

“Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self.” The Bhagavad Gita

A midlife threshold. A descent and return. A guided arc of becoming.

There comes a realisation- often in midlife, often quietly- that the life you’re in no longer fits. Not because you’ve failed, but because you’ve grown.

For many women, this moment arrives with a mix of exhaustion, clarity, anger- or simply a growing sense that something has shifted. A sense that something in you is asking to be met.

Embodied Journeys offer a held, intentional space for that moment.

These journeys weave together somatic practice, mythic framing, nervous‑system literacy, and reflective inquiry. They are not therapy, and not coaching, but a different kind of work entirely: a guided descent and re‑emergence, rooted in the body and the wild psyche.

The Alchemical Arc

Each Embodied Journey follows a three‑phase arc drawn from psychological alchemy, feminist thinking, and lived midlife experience:

Nigredo: The Burning Ground

The dissolving. The moment when old patterns, roles, and expectations begin to fall away. A descent into what we’ve suppressed: the knowledge we don’t want to confront, the unease that tells us something isn’t right, the emotion we’ve denied.

Albedo: The Clearing

The settling. The phase where the mud sinks, the water clears, and clarity begins to emerge without force.

Rubedo: Emergence

The re‑forming. A return to yourself with steadiness, coherence, and a renewed sense of direction.

This arc is not linear. It is cyclical, relational, and deeply human. It is the shape of midlife transformation.

Client testimonial

“At a time when anxiety was affecting my sleep and my judgement at work…

At a time when anxiety was affecting my sleep and my judgement at work, I started a 3-session Embodied Journey with Cerian. From the first session, Cerian guided me impartially through reflections that connected me with the physical symptoms, guiding me through mental and physical activities that released tension. Cerian’s calm, objective practice revealed and healed. Cerian has an innate wisdom, she plans and adapts her sessions to meet our need.”

Anger and Sisterhood

Two forces sit at the heart of this work:

Anger — the will to change

Not rage for its own sake, but the clean, clarifying heat that says: “I can’t carry this anymore.” Anger reveals misalignment. It is the ignition point of will.

Sisterhood — the field of belonging

The sorrow that precedes the anger. The witness that makes the fire survivable. The community before, during, and after the transformation.

Together, they form the emotional architecture of women’s midlife rites of passage.

Embodied Journeys offer a place to meet both with compassion, steadiness, and embodied support.

Rooted in the Wild Psyche

At the heart of this work is a simple intention:

To help you stay rooted in the midst of chaotic obscurity, in the wild, haunted places of the psyche- and to find your way through with clarity and compassion.

This is not about becoming someone new. It’s about returning to the self you’ve always been, beneath the layers of responsibility, expectation, and survival.

Ways to Journey

There are different ways to step into this work, depending on what you need:

Individual Journey

A one‑to‑one embodied arc for women who feel the quiet pull toward change.

An Individual Journey is a guided, reflective process held over a small number of sessions — usually one to three, depending on what you’re exploring. It offers a steady, spacious place to slow down, listen inwardly, and meet the deeper shifts happening beneath the surface of your life.

This is not therapy, and not coaching. It is a mythic, somatic, midlife rite‑of‑passage held with warmth, clarity, and grounded support. You bring your lived experience; I hold the arc; together we follow the thread of what is asking to be met.

Each session weaves together embodied practice, nervous‑system literacy, and reflective inquiry. You won’t be asked to perform, fix, or achieve anything. Instead, you’ll be invited to notice, feel, and understand — gently, honestly, and at your own pace.

Individual Journeys are best suited to women who feel emotionally steady enough to explore their inner landscape with curiosity, and who sense that something in their life is shifting, loosening, or asking for attention.

If you’re unsure whether this or Yoga Therapy is the right fit, we can explore that together.

Circle: Embodied Becoming

A collective arc of descent, clarity, and return — held in sisterhood.

An Embodied Becoming Circle journey is a braided pathway that moves between group space and one‑to‑one space, offering the depth of personal reflection alongside the belonging of shared witness. It follows the same alchemical phases as the Individual Journey, but with the added richness of community, story, and collective resonance.

This is not group therapy, and not a coaching programme. It is a midlife rite‑of‑passage held in community, shaped through embodied practice, mythic framing, and reflective inquiry. You bring your lived experience; the group brings its presence; I hold the arc.

The Braided Arc

The Embodied Becoming Circle journey unfolds through a gentle rhythm of:

  • Group circles — shared practice, mythic framing, collective reflection
  • 1:1 sessions — personal inquiry, embodied support, deeper integration
  • Group circles — returning with clarity, witnessing each other’s shifts

This braid allows you to explore your inner landscape privately, then return to the group with steadiness and insight. It creates a field of belonging that makes the descent survivable and the return meaningful.

Who This Work Is For

Embodied Journeys are for women who:

  • feel stretched, fed up, or are quietly carrying too much
  • are navigating midlife, transition, or identity shift
  • sense something in their life no longer fits
  • want a reflective, embodied space to understand themselves
  • feel the pull toward change, even if they don’t yet know its shape

No experience of yoga is needed- just curiosity, willingness, and enough emotional steadiness to explore your inner landscape with care.

A Note on Scope

A note on what these journeys are– and aren’t:

This work is not a substitute for counselling, psychotherapy, or medical care. It is a reflective and embodied exploration designed to support self‑understanding and informed personal choice.

This journey is best suited to those who feel emotionally resourced and curious about understanding themselves more deeply, rather than those seeking support for acute psychological distress, or mental or physical health treatment.

If at any point it becomes clear that therapeutic or clinical support would be more appropriate, I will encourage clients to seek support within those settings.
