Teen Yoga Therapy

Evidence-informed support for young people

If your teen is struggling with anxiety, depression or low mood, overwhelm or burnout (including autistic burnout, or the exhaustion that comes from masking neurodiversity), difficulties with emotional regulation, trauma, eating disorder recovery, school refusal, or other mental-health challenges, I may be able to help.

I offer gentle, holistic, personalised yoga therapy in an approachable and trauma-informed way, for young people aged 11–18. Sessions are held online.

Why yoga therapy for teens?

Research suggests that yoga practices can be a helpful complement in managing a range of mental and physical health conditions. Yoga therapy is also increasingly recognised as a supportive option for children and adolescents, at a time when many young people are struggling with their mental health and access to CAMHS can be limited. For teens who are awaiting assessment, diagnosis, or talking therapies, body-based approaches can offer gentle, practical support alongside other care.

Michelle Fury, my teacher, and the long-standing yoga therapist at Children’s Hospital Colorado, describes the work clearly: “At Children’s Hospital Colorado, we are using yoga as a psychotherapeutic intervention to help the child’s state of mind.” She is quoted in an article by Jennifer Van Pelt, which outlines some of the success stories she has witnessed over her years at CHCO. Michelle also wrote for The Minded Institute in 2024 about ways yoga may support young people’s emotional wellbeing. There is a growing body of evidence for the benefits of yoga in school settings too, particularly for regulation, attention, and emotional steadiness – you can read some of it here on Teen Yoga‘s website.

What to expect

Your teen’s yoga therapy begins with a gentle conversation. We take time to arrive, settle, and understand what’s been feeling difficult. From there, we shape sessions around what feels manageable for your teen right now. Sessions may include:

  • gentle movement
  • breathwork
  • grounding practices
  • guided relaxation
  • simple regulation tools
  • mindfulness or somatic awareness

Everything is invitational, paced with care, and shaped around your teen’s comfort and capacity. Nothing is forced, and there is no expectation to “perform”, “be calm”, or talk about anything they don’t want to.

Although sessions can feel supportive and therapeutic, this work is not talking therapy or counselling. Yoga therapy is a body-based, somatic approach that complements, but does not replace, psychological or clinical care.

I recommend booking a free Discovery Call on Zoom or by phone to chat about what to expect, how I might help, and to ask any questions you have. We can also decide whether yoga therapy is the right path for your teen, and whether I’m the right yoga therapist for them.

Pricing and booking

Initial session (60 minutes): £55
A slightly longer first session to help your teen arrive, settle, and build a sense of safety. We’ll look gently at the intake form, explore what’s been feeling difficult, and agree on realistic goals for the work. Parents are welcome to join for the first few minutes if that helps.

Follow-up sessions (45 minutes): £45
Gentle, steady sessions offering body-based tools for grounding, regulation, and emotional support.

Steady Foundations: 3-session bundle, £130

A supportive three-session arc: one 60-minute intake session and two 45-minute follow-up sessions. It offers grounding, regulation support, and personalised tools for teens navigating anxiety, low mood, overwhelm, autistic burnout, masking-related exhaustion, school refusal, trauma, or other mental-health challenges.

You can pay in full upfront, or spread the cost over two monthly payments of £65.

A note about flexibility: you’re always free to pause or stop therapy at any time. Because the bundle is discounted, the full fee remains payable once it has begun, even if you don’t use every session. If you’re unsure whether this suits your young person, a free Discovery Call is the best place to talk it through.

Accessibility

I’m committed to making yoga therapy as accessible as possible. Once my Community Interest Company (CIC) is established, I’ll be able to offer concessionary places for those who need them. Until then, the bundle is the most affordable way to work together.

Cancellations

Life happens, and plans change. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give at least 48 hours’ notice if you can. Short-notice cancellations and missed appointments are charged as set out in the terms below, which I’d ask you to read before booking.

About me and my training

With nearly twenty years’ experience as a teacher, in mainstream classrooms, specialist provision, and non-school settings, alongside my yoga therapy training, I bring both educational and therapeutic experience to this work.

My professional training includes:

  • a specialist qualification in Yoga Therapy for Child and Adolescent Mental Health, from The Minded Institute
  • Beacon House’s Developmental Trauma for Professionals training, supporting safe, developmentally appropriate work with trauma-affected young people
  • ongoing work as a Wellbeing Practitioner in a local secondary school, keeping my practice current and grounded in real-world adolescent needs

I hold an Enhanced DBS Certificate and I’m registered on the DBS Update Service. As a school employee, I also maintain up-to-date safeguarding training and follow clear professional standards.

Safety, confidentiality and consent

A safe, confidential space

I aim to provide a safe, confidential space for young people to share their thoughts, and to give them tools and techniques to find a greater sense of ease in body and mind.

Confidentiality and safeguarding. What your teen shares in sessions is private, with one exception: sessions are subject to normal safeguarding principles. If I’m concerned that your teen, or someone else, is at risk of harm, I may need to share information with the appropriate people, and I’ll tell your teen and, where appropriate, you, when that happens.

Online sessions. Teen yoga therapy takes place on Zoom. For everyone’s safety, I ask that:

  • a parent or carer is at home and aware of each session
  • your teen joins from a shared or open space where possible
  • neither of us records the session
  • bookings and scheduling go through a parent or carer

I hold an Enhanced DBS Certificate and I’m registered on the DBS Update Service.

If your teen is in crisis, please contact your GP or NHS 111, or call 999 in an emergency. Young people can also call Childline on 0800 1111 and the Samaritans on 116 123.

Terms and conditions for yoga therapy bookings

Please read carefully before you book.

Payment
Pay by card when you book, or contact me for an invoice. Payment is needed in full at least 2 hours before your appointment.

Changing or cancelling appointments
Wherever possible, please give two weeks’ notice if you need to change an appointment.

  • 48 hours’ notice or more: full refund or free rescheduling
  • Between 24 and 48 hours’ notice: 50% refund
  • Less than 24 hours’ notice, or not attending: no refund

This applies in all circumstances and helps keep costs manageable for everyone. If late payments or repeated cancellations occur, I may not be able to offer further appointments. If you’re struggling to pay, please reach out. I’m always happy to discuss options. If I need to cancel and we can’t find a mutually convenient time to reschedule, you’ll receive a full refund for the session.

Intake form
Please complete the intake form, or ask your teen to complete it, as fully and honestly as possible. This helps me offer the most appropriate and supportive experience for where your young person is today.

Scope of practice
Yoga therapy can feel supportive and therapeutic, but it is not talking therapy or counselling. It is a body-based, somatic approach that complements, but does not replace, psychological or clinical care. Please read the information on my Yoga Therapy page and have a Discovery Call before booking, so you can feel confident this is the right kind of support for your teen.

I am not qualified to work with anyone who is pregnant. Some health conditions also have additional requirements before beginning yoga therapy. If you’re unsure, we can discuss this on your Discovery Call.

If you have already discussed yoga therapy and you are ready to book an appointment, you can do that here.
